The Diana Award is an official legacy to Diana Princess of Wales’ belief that young people have the power to change the world for the better. Since 1999, the Diana Award has recognised over 40,000 young people who have made a positive difference to their community.
The Diana Award encourages young people for the contribution that they make to their communities, empowers young people to achieve their full potential and engages them in further social action to make a difference to the lives of others.
The Diana Award achieves this through four core programmes:
The Diana Award
Young people receive the Diana Award for being one of the following: Active Campaigners, Anti-bullying Champions, Champion Fundraisers, Champion Volunteers and Courageous Citizens. Teachers can nominate young people to receive an award online www.diana-award.org.uk/the-award.
The Diana Network Programme
The Network assists young people to gain skills that will help both with their personal and professional development. The Network offers young people the opportunity to sign up for volunteering, youth consultation boards and work place training such as apprenticeships, work experience and gap years. The Diana Anti-bullying Ambassadors Programme
This programme empowers young people to tackle all forms of bullying in their schools and communities. Through training, we give young people the skills, confidence and support to run a year-long youth-led Antibullying programme. To sign your schools up please click here.
The Diana Training and Mentoring Programme
This is a unique project which brings together socially motivated Diana Award Holders to act as mentors to disadvantaged and disengaged young people. The programme supports young people through training and mentoring, helping them in becoming better skilled; increasing their employability and enabling them to ultimately reach their full potential.
