A career in business and finance
The financial industry is one which is recruits students from a wide range of degree backgrounds. Many large financial firms offer work experience and internship opportunities which are a great way to learn more about the industry and a particular firm. Applying for an internship is very competitive and firms are looking for students who have innovative minds, creative spirites and show potential. Applications for summer internships begin in early Autumn and it's always a good idea to apply early. Application forms can take a long time to complete so don't leave it until the last minute to complete your form. Businesses look for candidates who have a natural interest in the industry and who can demonstrate their interests by reading newspapers like the Financial Times, reading journals such as the Economists and keeping up-to-date with world news. There are several stages that preceed the initial application process such as aptitude tests, interviews and assessment centres.
