In 2012, Pure Potential teamed up with leading financial services firm UBS to work with sixth form students at The Bridge Academy in Hackney. Pure Potential delivered over 30 career talks, UCAS workshops and employability skills sessions to develop motivated, work-confident and skilled students to encourage a culture of aspiration and equip students to succeed.
Supported by UBS, The Bridge Academy opened in 2007 to create an outstanding school at the heart of its local community. The school is located in one of the most economically disadvantaged parts of Hackney, with 51% of students eligible for Free School Meals and 40% of students for whom English is a second language.
The Bridge Academy partnership was recognized with a Big Society Award from the UK Prime Minister David Cameron: “The Bridge Academy is a brilliant example of business working with their local community. The innovative ideas, enthusiasm and skills of the UBS volunteers have had a clear impact on the Academy, inspiring students and helping them reach their potential.”Working closely with the Community Relations team at UBS and the Senior Leadership Team at The Bridge Academy, Pure Potential created a programme which provides valuable, engaging workshops where we range a range of talks:
- Career workshops held in partnership with leading professionals to provide students with an insight into the range of careers available
- Interactive talks on employability skills such as CV writing, first-impressions and the importance of gaining work experience
- UCAS application support for students applying to Oxbridge and Russell Group Universities
- Mock-interview sessions to boost confidence levels and improve communication and inter-personal skills
We receive consistently positive feedback on how valuable Bridge students find our sessions, and the staff regard the support and advice we offer is essential to the development of their students.
