LSE seeks to promote the impartial pursuit of knowledge and understanding about how people organise themselves into, and interact within, social groupings. The social sciences offer a number of ways of investigating and thinking about these questions: they do not teach you a ‘right’ (or left, or centre!) way to solve the world’s problems. The focus of our teaching is on helping you to learn some of the different ways to test your – and other people’s – ideas; and in the words of our motto, rerum cognoscere causas, ‘to understand the causes of things’.
Located in the heart of central London, 5 minutes from Covent Garden, we can offer an unrivalled teaching and learning experience right at the centre of one of the world’s most global, cosmopolitan and dynamic cities.
LSE awards over £7m per year in scholarships and bursaries to enable students from all backgrounds to study at the School and the bustling campus attracts students from over 140 countries each year, together with world leaders such as Bill Clinton and Nelson Mandela who give public lectures at the School.
You are guaranteed accommodation in the first year which costs between £60 and £130 per week, and advice is available when looking in the private sector.
The Students’ Union is extremely active with over 160 societies including over 25 sports, 60 cultural/regional societies, dance, drama, music and representative societies including all political viewpoints. Students from all religious beliefs are supported through the Chaplaincy and provision of a prayer room.
